Some Advice Re Lightening & Plant Gold Shrines

As I have mentioned here before, when I first started on my Lightening gold shrine I made the decision to level up using Lightening as opposed to using Loves, which contain Lightening plus Plant habitats. That was the right decision at the time as my site was hyper-productive, having robbed habitats from Nursery Island. Plus I wasn't sleeping well in this post-op mode so I could collect coins constantly.

When I reached 35/50 things changed. I decided to restore my Nursery Island which reduced my productivity. And I started sleeping at night. At that point I switched to Loves. Now I kind of wish I had done it sooner. It takes more to breed Loves, but I let that happen overnight. The double credit has a lot of value as most of the work and resources go into the leveling up.

If I had it to do over again, I would use Loves from the beginning. And I think folks with normal lives are much better served with the Loves.

I have the Colds. Got them with Snows, which over-lapped efforts with Panlongs a little bit (I have 70 Fires!). But the 8/8 time wasn't too bad and they sell for $1M.

All I have left are Lightenings and Plants. I'm at 40/50 with the Lightenings and can see the light at the end of the tunnel (sorry). I'm at 23/50 Plants. . So a long way to go. Fortunately I guess because I don't know what mountains I would have left to climb. Maybe ONE level 20 as King (Queen?) of the park, but I'm not very interested in level 20's beyond that. I actually think the crowns look a little goofy.

Follow up to breeding for Cold gold shrine...

You know, Reindeer or Storm would be better now, but I "think" I started in on Cold before the Pan was introduced.

So I find out last night that I am getting an IPad (When the new one comes out)... But let me tell you the story... My hubby works nights so 5 days a week I can wake up at 1:00 to collect coins and not have to worry about anyone being bothered. But last night he was home. So at 1:00 my phone rings (like normal). I grab really quick and run into the bathroom. So there I am sitting on the bathroom floor and in he walks: (Now he knows I play "this" game but he does not know how much) I quickly shut the phone off get up and walk back to bed (I look like a kid that just got caught with there hand in the candy jar). He grabs my phone and starts looking at the last calls I have made (Keep in mine he is a cop). Hands me back the phone a says "who were you talking to that you had to get up in the middle of the night and run to the bathroom?" I said no one... And that starts the next part (1:00am) ok who are you having an affair with? (in total shock right now) you are all the time running out of rooms witht that phone in hand, everytime I walk in you turn it off, what is going on? (Now a little history to better understand this, My hubby has prostate cancer, in March it was all removed and he is cancer free) I am feeling really guilty right now show him just what I have been doing all the time. In tears he says, "I know you played but I never know that you had made a world this cool... I thought you were having an affair, but know I know it is with a bunch of cool looking dragons and a forum with which you get to talk about it. (Big hug now) Is that why you have been asking for an I Pad? Yes. Ok then when the news one come out I will get you one. But, (Ok here it comes) Can you show me how to play this when I buy 2? Ok now I know why I live my hubby... He is just the greatest...

Amazing story! Most importantly I am so glad your hubby is well (long may it continue) and your relationship is still strong but congratulations on your upcoming new iPad too - I am very envious!

I admit I try to hide the extent to which I play from my husband too but not to that extreme, so although some of my behaviour might seem a bit suss (suspicious), I am pretty sure he doesnt suspect an affair, heh. In fact, he's probably well aware that I am playing the game on those times he does 'catch me' . I only hide it that little bit because I've already shown him DragonVale, he isn't very interested and thinks (probably quite rightly, haha) I should have other, more 'real-life' productive, things to do with my time.

Yeh, well are you still impressed? I just put panlongs into breed! hehe. I figured I may as well finish off the last 21 with panlong, which will save cash and food and work on the other 2 shrines at the same time. I am in no hurry though and it is going to clear up that island so I can star figuring out what to do with it. I think I will only breed one pair of panlongs at a time too so I can kerp the other pair earning cash to buy more food. Lol me too! I wake up 2-3 times a night. It's ridiculous! Lol me too! :thumbs:

Excuse me? What am seeing here? Didn't we already "discuss" this whole waking up multiple times a night to check on/cash your dragons issue?! Hmmmmm??!! Not taking care of yourself will NOT be tolerated!

Going For the Gold

Sorry to monopolize the thread right now, but I just got back from a two mile walk with elevation and I'm resting my aching back (off pain killers now).

I thought it might be interesting - and helpful - to put together a plan for those just now getting ready to start on their gold shrines. Given that the leveling up is the most resource intensive part of the process, it makes sense to kill as many birds with one stone as possible (I hate that expression).

We'll want to tinker with it and I'll get things started.

It's tempting to just default to the Panlong with it's four elements. But it has two major drawbacks: first you need a pair and secondly it's 36/36. But they are great to keep for a coin factory when you're done. Here's what a Pan grouping might look like:

Panlong 36/36, sells for $1M
- Water
- Earth
- Fire
- Air

Love 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Plant
- Fire

Storm 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Cold

You cover all seven elements with three level raisings.

How about a grouping that doesn't include Panlongs? How about this?

Love 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Plant
- Fire

Ice 8/8, sells for $250K
- Cold
- Water

Sandstorm. 2/2, sells for $500K (!)
- Air
- Earth

This covers all seven elements with no duplication and short breeding times.

OK, let's work on optimizing this and it can serve as a reference similar to the Breeding Guide when we're finished.

I'm using Loves to get silver for those shrines. I figure I would kill three dragons with one breeding. I am pretty sure I'm good with stopping at silver shrines. Thanks for all the advice you give us!

OMG, that was too funny (yet familiar)!! The poor guy must have been going through hell. He must have been so relieved to find out your affair was with an entire world of cute little dragons And I think Shellee's tears were tears of laughter like mine! Collected the Party Hats from your Islands last night and noticed 4 Love eggs in the Hatchery and the pair of them breeding again. It made me realise that I had been a bit simplistic with the calculations because of your use of gems to speed things up. Anyway ...

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to interrupt you with some questions. There are quite a few of us still working on Silver, sir. Do you think the process is pretty much the same? Is there something about the "need" to save the dragons to level up to gold that makes things different? Would you recommend working straight on from silver to gold for your first shrines whilst leaving the others at bronze?

We'll want to tinker with it and I'll get things started.

The love dragon doubles up on lightning and fire, so a plant dragon would do the same job, with the benefit of a 15 second incubation time. Do you think there are any advantages to having 3 quite different incubation times? Especially if you're not going to spend gems to speed up the process?
