Dragonvale Tips & Tricks! (NO Friend Requests!)

I have noticed that many players concentrate on breeding rares or new dragons and on organizing their islands which are becoming real pieces of art and design. Not many speek about the shrines thinggy, whereby getting the silver ones is not too much of a hassle.
And anyway, those who already had some level 15 when they upgraded were disapointed to see that they were not taken into account.

I am not sure who posted this (think it was Brooklyn ) I tried to find it with no luck but this is what I have on shrines...

Plant & fire breed poison for 30 minutes
Earth & air breed sand for 2 hrs
Cold & lightning breed storm 5 hrs
Water breed seaweed 5 hrs

A challenge? I accept!
Let's be time efficient! You get 10.000 food in one minute for 500.000 coins. This means you need to grow sarjin peppers 131 times for a total of 65.500.000 coins. You need to do this 4 times to level 20. So that's 262.000.000 coins. Yikes!
Let's say you breed the most expensive dragon for the fastest time. Air dragons. You can breed in 2 pens for 1.000.000 every 2 hours. Assuming you play all day and take a minimum of 8 hours rest, that's 8.000.000 a day. This way it'll take you just under 33 days to max it out.

Let's say that you can earn about 1/3th of that by visiting people and cashing in your habitats. It still takes you 22 days. Even if you could conjure up ridiculous amounts of coins, I'd still be very surprised to see you do it in 1-2 days!

Now just growing treats then. You need to grow them 524 times. You have a maximum of 11 treat farms.
It'll take you a minimum of 48 minutes to grow them all. More realistically going to 60-90 minutes. Not too bad considering you have 22 days to grow them

Of course, this is without considering gems as a resource...

Still ridiculous considering this is to level up 1 dragon from lv 19 to lv 20
EDIT: Just for giggles, leveling up a dragon from level 19 to 20 using treats you buy from the treasure shop, it would cost you 5700$
Also, considering it doubles every level, you could calculate how much leveling a dragon from lv1 to lv20 using bought treats costs: 11.400$

I love it! You are barking up my tree! The only variable left out is the party hats and the level that they are on and assuming how many friends each person has. As this can generate upwards of say 10,000 a day in party hat coins alone. Not a huge variable, but none the less.

With respect to StormEvans ' calculation, it reinforces my opnion that the move towards gold shrines was a decision not thought over by the makers of the game. The game is designed for dragons levels 15 max but not above. Maybe they were panicked when so many were stuck at level 20 of the game for weeks? Or, this is the only way they thought of getting the game over because nobody is going to seriously try for any more then maybe one level 20. The rest will give up. Maybe the makers want to move on and are already working on another game and want to let this one die ?

It at least keeps you challenged!!!

Sometimes it is just nice to play a game have some fun set some goals and not stress over the fact that it may take me till my kids move out (the twins are 8) to make it to gold..... It is just a really cool game with a really cool group of people to talk to about it!!! Just have fun and it will happen (one day)

Sorry it took a while to answer!

Well the Panlong efforts that turned into 48hour breeds turned out to both be TWO MORE RAINBOWS!! I now have five and will have to sell two. Still no Sun, Moon, Panlong or Iceberg.....

Combo's (which apart from the first one which was deliberately for a Rainbow, have been attempts for Suns, Moons and Panlongs) have been:

Firefly x Seaweed
Blazing x Crystal
Scorch x Snow
Lava x Fog
Blazing x Mud

Iceberg is an easy breed. I have no idea how you dont have it yet. I got mine with water and cold. If that doesn't work try cold with fog.

Well, to million dollars and sixteen hours later, I have no luck. Just put scorch and Ice in ebi and got eight hours. Put blazing and mid in regular breeding cave and got another eight hours. Why!?!?!?!?

I see 3 on my list from you for the last four days. I don't think I have sent you one back yet have I? I send them in the order received and my list is long. But I do get each and every gem back to those who send them with the exception of that "and others sent you gems" message, but I try my best to figure out who is the missing gem sender. Right now after just counting out my list I owe out 53.5 days. Yikes! So please forgive me if it takes me awhile to get them back to you but you will get them back.

I just bred mud on left blazing on right about 20 times both level 10 and FINALLY just now I have 36 hours incubation - hopeful that this is the panlong. Keep trying it will happen eventually.

For the most part it takes a lot of luck and patience. :thumbs: There is a theory that boosts on the island with the breeding cave can affect sometimes. Also what may work for one may not for another...try switching the order in which your pair is going into the cave. If all else fails switch up the combo to a different one. Sometimes it takes soooo many tries but eventually you will get what you want. :thumbs:

Ok everyone 2 days ago I placed a pan and a plant in the ebi... I got a 48 hr dragon!!!! Well I am not the proud momma of my first rainbow dragon....... I now have 1 of them all!!!!!

Took me three months to get my first Rainbow. Don't give up - I was just about to and then it DID happen!! Now I've got five of the little blighters in a four week period, but still can't get the other rares!!

And I haven't actually tried for the Iceberg yet - on my to do list

Hi all I just joined iPad forums but have been reading all the dragon vale tips for several months. Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing. My islands would not be so well populated without this forum! Now if only I could get a sun. I have bred heaps of moon dragons.

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you finally joined us! :thumbs: Did you see the list we started yesterday with all the sun dragon combinations that have worked for other's? It's a real pain I know..most work for moon as well and I was in the same position as you on my 2nd sun. Couldn't get it for anything. Do you have a bone dragon? That is what finally worked for me this last go around. Just remember to switch up the order you are breeding the pair every now and then. BTW thanks so much for the gems! They will come back to you as soon as I can. :thumbs:

Well I'm no closer in my quest for a panlong !!!! got yet another 2 ugly lavas brewing in my caves and 2 more in my nursery i must have tried 40 plus times now and wasted a shed load of gems I'm so unhappy right now my mud and blazing hate me booooooo haha

Hahaha Mine too! Still nothing yet either but I just keep going, and going, and going! Lol. We'll get them sooner or later. I really am starting to feel like a broken record on this whole thing though.

I agree and said largely the same thing last week. According to my calculations, if you didn't buy any coins, gems or treats, it would take you 5 years to get all gold shrines. I know others have gold shrines, but I stand by that calculation. Except now with the four element Panlong it might be three years.

It's just to tedious to breed the same dragon over and over and to constantly be desperate to raise money to buy incredible amounts of treats to feed them. Just isn't fun for me.

For that reason I have decided to set other goals - like building the Nursery Island! I'm going to stay with silver shrines and have at least one of every dragon at level 15 (except of course the rares). I'm still striving for level 30, but that's only a couple of days off. I can get another island then and I will try to come up with something interesting. And I will make all my islands as aesthetically nice as I can given my limited design talents.

If BFS decides to lower the requirements for gold shrines to something seemingly attainable, say 15-20 level 15's, then I'll probably go for it. Be a lot of Panlongs in my park if that happens (which is why BFS might have introduced a four element - maybe one with the other three elements is next).
