guys, have you ever encountered, on restart there are 2 thin vertical lines (seems like colors green, blue and red) just near the apple logo after your ipad has been jailbroken and cydia installed?

Finally!

I just downgraded from 3.2.2 to 3.2.1 without editing host file just tiny umbrella on. Then went to the jailbreak site and it worked right away, I love my new iPad! The instruction works.

I did all the steps, and I tried it like a hundred times, but every time I choose the 3.2.1 restore file and press restore, I get an error 3014.

any idea what I am doing wrong?

Same thing happened to me. Exact same error number. make sure you have the latest itunes and close the umbrella program before you start. Just make sure you edit the hosts file as per.

The process works

I can confirm that my iPad (3G, 64GB, iOS 3.2.2) can be downgraded to iOS 3.2.1 without doing anything (such as saving its SHSH) before.

I summarized the steps I took. Hope that this will make the whole process easier to follow.

Preparation:
1. Download 3.2.1 firmware (use the link in the 1st post).
2. Download "umbrella" application (see the 1st post or google for it).
3. Make sure your iTunes is the latest version.
4. Connect your iPad and let iTunes syncs it with your computer (you will want to restore your data after downgrading).

Downgrading process (more info for each step below):
1. Start "umbrella" and save SHSH blobs of your iPad.
2. In "umbrella", click Start TSS server.
3. Put the iPad in recovery mode.
4. In iTunes, hit Shift + click Restore.
5. Select 3.2.1 firmware, and wait until the restoration finishes.

Step 1:
1. Use the Advanced options to make sure that Device field is correct and Request From field is Cydia.
2. It should report "successful" after a while.

Step 2:
1. Using the TSS server saves you from changing the "hosts" file, if you have read about the need of this change elsewhere.

Step 3:
An iPad can be put into recovery mode when it is connected to a computer with the sync cable. This state, which your iPad is already in if you didn't disconnect the iPad after steps 1 and 2, can be achieved by the following two steps:
1. Connect iPad to a computer
2. Wait for sync to finish.
Now, to put the iPad into recovery mode:
1. Push both the home button and the power button until the logo of a cable connected to iTunes shows up.
2. You should get a message box from iTunes on the computer saying that the iPad is in recovery mode.

Steps 4 and 5 are as straight as they are.

Jailbreak iPad running iOS 3.2.1:
1. On iPad, run Safari to www dot jailbreakme dot com.
2. Follow the easy instructions on the site: "slide to jailbreak", "Sit tight", and so on.
3. After the jailbreak process has done, Cydia app has been installed also (on one of the screen). Use it just like using the App Store app.

Thanks for the other posts and have fun.

Hai! I signed up here for someone to help me out XD

My main problem is that I can't save my SHSH using umbrella. I'll get HTTP Error 502. Always. I thought it was just a temporary problem.

08/19/2010 21:19:39.779 Processing SHSH Request...
08/19/2010 21:19:39.795 Asking CYDIA for SHSH blobs for iPad 3.2.1 (7B405)...
08/19/2010 21:20:40.551 HTTP STATUS:502
08/19/2010 21:20:40.567 HTTP Error
08/19/2010 21:20:40.605 Your SHSH for iPad 3.2.1 (7B405) was NOT saved.

I am aware of google, so I looked up Error 502, and found this:
This usually does not mean that the upstream server is down (no response to the gateway/proxy), but rather that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data. Given that Internet protocols are quite clear, it often means that one or both machines have been incorrectly or incompletely programmed.
... which leads me to believe either there's something going wrong between my computer here, the connected ipad, or cydia's servers.

A little backstory:
I have installed Cydia before on 3.2.1. I was stupid and upgraded, to 3.2.2, lol. I can't quite remember if I clicked the "Make My Life Easier" button, but I think I did. However, my reason for upgrading was that when i hooked the ipad up to itunes, it said there was a problem with reading the iPad, so i was like "OMG BROKED RESTOE NAO!!" and it updated after restoring. So, i dont know if it's something to do with that.

EDITEDITEDIT!!!
Nevermind! It randomly worked. Let me try it now!

Edit!
It worked. I've seen 502 before XD i feel stupid, it is a temporary problem. If anyone has the same problem as i did, just keep trying to save your SHSH in the umbrella program until 502 goes away.

hi. I have done exactly as instructed by simonnouwens and got these message then in stuck saying "running".

08/20/2010 16:26:01.125 TSS Server Started!
08/20/2010 16:26:01.140 TSS Accepting connections...
08/20/2010 16:27:30.781 TSS Server has cached the following files: 08/20/2010 16:27:30.781 Devices with ECIDs matching the above AND restoring to the exact firmware version listed above will succeed!
08/20/2010 16:27:30.796 *Please note that iPad and iPad3G share the exact same SHSH. If you see iPad above and you have an iPad3G THEY WILL WORK JUST FINE. There is just no way for me to tell the difference between iPad and iPad3G from the SHSH alone.

What i do?

Hi, thank you for the great info.. I've been looking for this for a while.

I'm very new to this.. and wanted to know if there were any chance I may brick my iPad if something should go wrong... I don't want to end up with a 2 day old $700 paperweight..

Following the steps above, I see in the umbrella (for mac) log:

08/20/2010 16:17:14.357 TSS Accepting connections...
08/20/2010 16:17:14.370 Received Blob request...
08/20/2010 16:17:14.487 REQUEST: LONG BLOB OF DATA
08/20/2010 16:38:34.835 Wrote TSS response

After iTunes displays "Verifying iPad with Apple.." for a few minutes, I get an error message: "The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3002)."

The iUpadUpdate.log displays the following:

08/20/2010 22:43:31.255 Processing SHSH Request... 08/20/2010 22:43:31.294 Asking CYDIA for SHSH blobs for iPad3G 3.2.1 (7B405)... 08/20/2010 22:43:48.920 TSS Server Started! 08/20/2010 22:43:48.935 TSS Accepting connections... 08/20/2010 22:44:46.511 This device isn't eligible for the requested build. 08/20/2010 22:44:46.523 CYDIA DOES NOT HAVE YOUR SHSH FOR iPad3G 3.2.1 (7B405) THERE IS NO WAY FOR YOU TO GET THEM. SORRY. YOU ARE JUST TOO LATE.

HELP!

I only got my iPad yesterday!

I jailbroke it and then this morning updated it from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 and now I just want to get it back to 3.2.1 !

but keep getting that error, I'm following the steps, so what's wrong?

I'm a noob to all this stuff so I'm not sure about all the stuff like hosts and SHSH.

Thanks
