Australia will not have turn by turn on release of io6. It Is not discrimination at all the reason is the mapping system is not complete and that could be for many reasons. Apple will imliment it in a later release so I suggest be patient.

Well I understand ur logic of profitability for the company.but this is the logic of the consumer . I paid the same amount of money and just because of my ethnicity is different I shouldnt get the essential features. Hey I'm not complaining about not getting the 3d view or even voice guided navigation. Just the basic direction queries! If u think that is too much of a demand well...
And another thing...if google can do it why can't apple?same principle applies to both companies in developing the maps right?the cars and per capita and all.
I was using the turn by turn voice guided feature of google maps in Samsung galaxy ace today when I had to go to an unknown place.thats a midrange stuff.
And i own an iPad and to know if I upgrade to ios6 I'll lose even the basic direction queries which will make the gps useless...and people here are justifying the company in taking such a decision when it's rival if offering same features plus more even in lowend devices!!!
Ok...
Not a chance I'm afraid.
I paid the same amount of money and just because of my ethnicity is different I shouldnt get the essential features.
you will still have other mapping apps you can load. You will NOT loose any capability. And i own an iPad and to know if I upgrade to ios6 I'll lose even the basic direction queries which will make the gps useless
Google has been doing mapping for years and you don't imagine that Google started by mapping the whole world in one go?
Ethnicity doesn't matter here. If ethnicity were key to business, with all the Indian IT people in India and throughout the world, India would be among the first mapped.
It does suck that we're losing functionality because Apple is trying to establish its beachhead, but that has nothing to do with discrimination. That's Apple putting its interest ahead of customers so it can stake a claim. All customers who like Google maps, no matter their ethnicity, will get hurt in that process. Personally, I like Google maps, and I'm in the U.S.
What I'm saying is there is only so much u can compromise when ur paying ur hard earned money.when ur paying same money and ur getting only half stuff. While the other platforms are not holding back anything(I'm not talking about only gps here) I think it's really unfair to customers.and when ur taking away even the existing features that's doubly unfair.
And if u guys think it's ok of apple to do it when no other platforms are doing that well let it be.
Well the way things are going i guess I'll be a frog which hops out...I have never been loyal to any brand just because it's ur hard earned money and u got to spend it on the best product. But the fact is iPad still is the best tablet on market.android has a lot of catching up to
I understand that there is, or soon will be, a google maps app available for IOS6. If the new apple maps does not include the mapping data needed, I would try another.
Hopefully, we can remove the apple maps app from the device if we find we don't like it.
In most cases, Apple will delete an in-house app, if there is a better solution elsewhere. I do not like the mapping function provided by Google. I have the TomTom and Garmin (Navigon) apps which I use extensively. As I understand it, the new Apple mapping program is being done with help from TomTom. That may interest me, but do not expect too much from any mapping program. Every government has restrictions on what can and cannnot be done with mapping.
The real problem here is that Apple's mapping app is too new to have blanketed the whole world with turn by turn directions. The OP was complaining about their lack in his first post.
