How do I copy a folder of photos from my computer to my iPad ?

No, the original files should be still there on your computer.

If they only were on your iPad, and you synced all your photos from the computer to the iPad, syncing will have removed the pictures from your iPad, afaik.

Did you save them somewhere, so they don't get lost? Or do you have a backup where these folders are included?
