Connecting iPhone to the internet via iPad

What I have :
- iPhone 3GS with no internet access (due to company regulations)
- iPad Air with 3G internet access (personal account)

What I want : connect my iPhone to the internet using my iPad

What I have done :
- paired the iPhone to the iPad
- used the WiFi password that was shown on my iPad (Settings-Personal Hotspot is on)
- on my iPhone, the paired symbol shows at the top left

However, when I try to access the internet on my iPhone, Safaris says my iPhone is not connected to the internet).

What have I done wrong ?

Huh. That's odd. The only thing I can think of to check is - does the iPad get to the Internet on your cellular plan? If it doesn't access, the phone probably won't.

Is it a company phone? Maybe they've got some lockdown on WiFi?

Honestly, I've no idea. Sorry. Hopefully, someone will be along that can help.

The iPad has internet accesswith the simcard : no problem there.

Both are connected wiht each other through WiFi.

No ideas, sorry. Logic tells me, as I'm sure it does you - it should connect! What if you fully close Safari on the phone and try to re-open it "fresh"?

To gain more visibility for you, I'm going to move this post to the forum Help section. More people see posts there; maybe someone will know.

If your company is managing the phone, and it sounds like it is, then they've probably installed a policy locking if from use of the internet. This would stop all internet, regardless of how you connect the device. If you can't connect tot he internet on the iPhone using a normal wi-fi network (home, or elsewhere), then you won't be able to use the hotspot on your iPad either.

Are you able to acces the internet when you pair via bluetooth?

When your iPhone is connected, does your iPad show it here?
