connect ipad to internet without using wifi???? need some help please

Hello- new to community and not terribly tech savvy- husband has an iPad and currently has a separate data plan to connect to internet- we do not want wifi in the house (I'm concerned about EMF as we have young children- call me crazy...) anyway- is there anyway to be able to hook up the iPad so that it uses our home cable internet connection? I've found there are "power packet" plug ins by intellon that use your power outlets in the house- they take a cat5 wire for ethernet- since the iPad only has the usb wire that detaches from the charging plug- is there another connector I could get to be able to connect to one of these "home plugs"??? or does anyone have any other suggestions? or is it just not possible??? I would appreciate any ideas from the more "apple educated" members here- thanks!!

Sorry, but the only connections the iPad can make to get to the Internet is either via cellular or a wireless connection. There is no wired connection possible.

But as I share a bit your concerns about all those EMF things we do not use the wifi provided from the Internet router - which came from our Internet provider and is located at one end of our house. Instead I fuel the Internet from the router into our power/electricity wiring and get it out at a power outlet with an wireless access point. This access point can be easily pluged out when we leave the house or go to bed.



Does this make sense to you?

But isn't an access point still effectively broadcasting a wifi signal the same as the router itself?

Yes, it is.
But, for me, I only switch it on when I use it. So I am limiting its influence on my surroundings.
(And I am fully aware that there is an abundance of other rays and waves and what not around me.)

I guess you could do the same thing with the router itself.

It is more troublesome to switch it off/on than to just plug in/out the access point and as I wrote I limit my exposure to additional radiation.
This is my setting and it works perfectly for me. Might not be the perfect match for others.

thank you both for your responses
being able to turn off the wifi signal is my 2nd idea- did not know if the iPad "worked" with these "plug in" access points- any recommendations for what brand of plug in does the best job? I'm in Canada so I don't know if we have the same brands on the market

I did a quick search on Amazon.com and found this and that.

Something like this should help. Maybe you will find other brands at your local tech store. I would simply tell the store guys what you want to achieve.
