I am a newcomer to the forum, a retired electrical (etc.) engineer. I am interested in photography, natural history and so on. Is it possible to connect the iPad to a camera or web cam to display live pictures, essentially I suppose using it as CCTv?

If the camera is connected to the same network, or internet accessible there are several apps that will let you view (and sometimes control) it.

Sorry. No recommendations of actual devices or apps. I just know it can be done. A search of the App Store and Google for iPad, webcams, and/or security systems should turn up something. Baby monitors is an other overlapping subject.

Hopefully someone here will have some personal experience with some devices and apps.

You can download the app i Catcher available on the app store for $13.99. It works well with an IP camera. Though i don't use any of them, this is the best information I could get.

Hope this helps you.
