Big Business - game discussion

Well, if there are some stats geeks out there you might appreciate this. I set this up in a spreadsheet months ago when I started playing, long before the wiki. Spent some time to convert it to the wiki table.

So, now if you want to know the Total Profit, Total Time, Profit per Hour of all the products, now you can.

I will be about a month. Should I buy another wind farm to be able to adjust my plants around or wait for enough city credits to buy the big power plant? One twin turbine will get me to be able to buy the radio factory.

Storage space. Then you can sitch around - you do not need all the electricity heavy out there at one time.
Or, let a lot of the unefficient entertainment facilities go. Yes, might drop you one factory slot, but you will get a lot of free electricity.

Thanks, I have to think about it. Tough decision.

Dear diary,

I feel like I am missing out on all of the port fun. I have sent some sushi to help fill some containers for friends, but have only 6 steel details in 72 hours of collecting from 10 donut shops. Oh diary, I only have 1 slot left for building things with my admin building after building the chemical plant, cosmetic factory, and all of those donut shops! How could I possibly build more? Well, at least I have upgraded the mine and the chemical plants pretty well. I feel like the odd one out at the cotillion. Even the avocados won't come near me. I have not seen any in a month... Maybe they think I'll turn them into guacamole...

Yours truly,
G! belieber

What I wouldn't give to get 6 steel details in 3 days. I am getting 1 every 2 days from 12 donut cafes, and I need another 22. The time limit ran out days ago but I am not starting another challenge till this is done so that could be a few months off.

On a more positive note I just finished the ET challenge and am now going for the $7M challenge while I wait for my port, currently at 4.2 and climbing.

I know people have completed the commercial port and got the steel details, but there are a few players on this forum that have struggled just as much as I have - one or two drops a day if I was lucky... so, today, my timer expired on the commercial port - I had 17 details which took me 7 days to get. With the timer over and no prospect of completing the task, I've been playing slowly, and I've had 11 drops today (in six hours). Either this is an enormous co-incidence or there's a bug and/or 'system' in place to prevent all players from completing tasks in time.

Anyway, I'll have more commercial soon.

Co-incidence, my timer finished days ago and I have only had 1 drop sine then.

Here's something I discovered regarding collecting steel details for the commercial port - do not destroy donut shops while collecting these items; my drop rate had improved over the last few days, including a mammoth drop of nine steel details yesterday - thinking I was well on my way, I started to destroy some of the donut shops (given that I had 18) in order to make space for new buildings - I destroyed six donut shops 24 hours ago, and since then not a single steel detail has dropped. I suspect there may be a direct correlation between destroying the donut shops and a "halt" on steel detail drops.

No correlation, I have 12 most of which I built for this and have even upgraded a couple and I just don't get an drops.

How many steel details are needed? And what are they for? Still waiting for the Steel Bolt from the terminal. Sigh.
Any hints on what the next level require?
Many thanks.

You need 30 steel details, and based on what everyone else is saying don't get the steel bolt before you get all the steel detail. In my game a taxi came in with the steel bolt the very second I advanced to that task on the port. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Has anyone very deleted the app and re downloaded? If so I have just done that in error and lost everything, most apps of data is saved in Game Center etc continue.

That is something I tried when trying to get some steel drops. Hopefully you have an iPad backup and if you do a restore will put your name details back.

If you are more adventurous then all your game details are in the documents folder which you can find with a program like DiskAid.

As a professional statistician, I say Great Work! I had done most of those calculations in my head while waiting for goods to finish, but never took the additional step of arranging them into nice, neat tables. Go Nerds!

I wouldn't discount the higher level items just because they return less profit/hour. Most people have to sleep and work and such, and the higher level items give a much better return rate when you are away from the game for hours at a time.

Hi guys,

Accoording to the wiki the home sweet home achievement should be the construction of 6 standard houses. I built 6 standard houses and 6 houses but did not get the achievement. Is wiki correct?

Yes it is, I build the 6 "House" and got the achievement. You might need to demo them and build again. You need all 6 at the same time.

Here's the irony. I have 287 steel details in storage and I can't give them away! They were producing like crazy BEFORE the steel bolt. I didn't know a mere taxi could have got it for me.

Anyway, port's done and got the safe. What's next? Hmmm.....

One thing I don't understand about BB: why all the focus on renewables for electricity? Real business tycoons wouldn't care about the environment, they would just put down a few coal power plants and have all the electricity they'd need for a lot less $$$. We're already clearing lots of trees to build our cities, why not throw in a little air pollution for good measure? GI should at least add a nuclear plant to the mix.

Thanks, I have to think about it. Tough decision.

I have 16 storage spaces - works like a charm.
Currently, I work with 5 dairy factories, whch gives great cashflow.
3 milling plants - when all factories set etc., I might buy a 4th (which I will destroy tomorrow again) - can do that, but it blocks me from switching factories unless I buy another space. That should give me 80-90 teas, which is a fair shot at the silver medals.
Then I got 5 farms and 4 paper mills - working the ingredients for tea and cottage cheese.
3 ranches making milk (and the occasional fish for the sushi).
Then my mine and chemical plant are working/upgrading. Weawing is making the shirts for the ship.
Oil refinery working on motor oilso I have a few at hand. 1 confectionary plant is working on an eclair for the daily long contest.

I got 154.000 citizens, working with 12.011 of 13.059 electricity.

Will not be running for next tier, untill I got the big power plant. Port will be my shortcut to that, need heavy factories to fill vessels, opefully with VIP cargo as well, to get city credit.
