Big Business - game discussion

Here I am, serving humanity once again.

To whom it may concern:

CHEESE vs COTTAGE CHEESE

Milk 260
Packaging 210

1) Cheese

Investment 2 milk (520) + production (310) = 830
Sold for 1,365

Profit 1365 - 830 = 435

Per hour 435 x 4 = 1,740

2) Cottage cheese

Investment 2milk (520) + package (210) + production (320) = 1,050
Sold for 1990

Profit 1990 - 1050 = 940

Per hour 940 x 2 = 1880

10-hr shift

Cheese 17,400
Cottage cheese 18,800

If you have several dairies the difference is even more significant.

CONCLUSION

Cottage cheese is more profitable. Also, producing cottage cheese is less stressful.
On a side note, I can't believe they fixed that double price glitch. What's wrong with these people?

EDIT

Profit is twice as much because I was Confused, they did not fix anything. I guess it was not a glitch after all.

So.... Profit is not 18,800, it is 37,600.

Sunshine! Love the avatar. Thanks for the numbers but that's only half of it. You need to double the payout because you get 2 at 1990 each! Dwarfing the cheese payout.

Based on what I've heard/seen, I would avoid the furniture and toy factories. Weaving factory and food plant are good because they use outputs from farms and ranches. The others involve other baseline factories and special trucks. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have bought any of the furniture stuff. You can keep a weaving factory producing belts every 10 minutes with one leather and two flax for 2170. Very easy to keep running, but it takes a lot of trucks (6).

Toy factory requires upgraded refinery and lots if trucks.

I use both my furniture and weaving factories non-stop. I make nightstands and sometimes armchairs.

Yeah, I double-checked, it says 1990 but you get two instead of one in the WH, 1990 each. Good news.

Yep I could not check because I'm in process of making them, check my WH and I have 4 from 2 dairies runs. You really can't beat this. I don't know why people make cheese unless they don't have a paper mill. Even when the contest is cheese, still not better. The best bet is when the contest is cottage cheese, double cheese plus 50%. I was on my Caribbean cruise last Xmas and was pleasantly surprised with the 50% bonus.

Summer, are you nesting? I see not one but two Easter restaurants standing guard to you shop. Really?

Who has Syracuse?

I am at 5 mil now and under 2k pop. Should be a big payday tomorrow in achievements.

For some reason I thought they changed that. Early Alzheimer's.
I make cheese for lasagna and cheesecake only. Otherwise, no cheese. My daily routine includes cottage cheese, lasagna, fish rolls, apple cake, shirts, dough for strudel and tortilla, cookies, nightstands, amethyst, chlorine and wax, coal, varnish for the nightstands, and whatever the buses bring. I run buses only -- going for 75 avocado achievement. And of course I make tortillas when the contests are not getting in the way. Plus whatever assignment I get. Usually it is something awful like starch, dolls, bunnies, bed, motor oil, booklets etc. They know how to inflict maximum pain.
It would be nice to learn what other people make.

Well this morning I had for the short one, 3 wools. The day one I needed 3 parquets and 3 kafirs. Parquets are tough because doing that also shuts down my furniture factory. I had a run of starches too. I keep a couple of potatoes in my WH just in case.

I think if your on the avacado quest you've gone past the bit that requires rubies!the below is from the wiki

Upgrade tower to level 4 (150000 / 1d 6h / 300 electricity / +3000 happiness)

[*]Get 10 avocado & produce 10 cheese cake (food plant)
[*]Collect 25 pizza from pizza parlor & 2500 energy
[*]Get 30 drills as gifts & train 15 Engineers (College)
[*]Obtain 10 silver medals from contests
[*]Get 10 gold keys and 10 silver keys (?)

Wow! That's not very encouraging. I think I'll stay at level 4 for the time being. Thanks for the info though. Well done for you to have completed the task.

Survey time! ...What does everyone think are the best items to produce at each factory both long term and short term? (I've got the Dairy Factory, Milling Plant and Confectionary Plant)

I've gotten into the habit of making cottage cheese, muesli, and muffins for short term production and condensed milk, pet food and candy for long term production. But honestly, I haven't done much research and calculating into it to see if these are the best items to be making for the best profit and return on my time and money that it takes to make them.

Also, with these three buildings in mind, what factory do y'all recommend I get next? Weaving Factory, Toy Factory, Furniture Factory, or Food Plant?

Any input?

Personally, my 2 food plants are the biggest money makers. Need the 10 farms and 2 ranches to support production though.

Glad to see you are almost at zero population. I have just under 14k to go so another 2 weeks will see me finished with these 2 crazy objectives. I really need to get the population back up so I can get more factories to compete in the daily contests. I haven't placed yet and need to if I am to get the ET completed.

I also love my food plants. My personal favorite is cake for them. Sushi rolls are great when I have a few hours of down time & set my 5 ranches to produce fish. I like the nightstand for long term.

Short term stuff: Cottage cheese may be the highest selling effort with the least amount of effort in the entire game. Muffins (dough for cake), butter for cake (if I am in that mode), Couch only needs 2 timber slabs and a leather, so that is easy, apple pie is awesome for the little effort it requires (I can pump out 4 an hour with 3 farms dedicated to it, and weaving carpets or belts (shirts for a longer term project.) The milling plant is only for flour and sugar or cocoflakes. Fruitcake and cocoflakes are big bucks for minor effort. A big part of what I do depends on how much I need to accomplish in the real world.

Made 24 fruitcakes, and it took 24 to place. But did not make it. I missed number 25 by 25 seconds.
So, now I had to buy the 7th egg for 8 credits to get the final easter building, a good deal - but stil......

Happy easter everyone.
