Well they say if we hadn't won that little skirmish in 1776, we'd all be speaking English on this side of the pond!

We'd pretty much be like Canada is now (outside of Quebec), which I personally wouldn't mind, but hey.

Hmm apple store in my mall has "normal" looking people in it, my prob is you can't walk in door more then a few inches without getting jumped by 30 workers, it's like if I need help I will ask, back the F off lol

As soon as you walk into our local apple store there are plenty of people willing to help you out but as soon as you ask them for something they have to go find another person.

LOL that would figure, if places like that would stop hiring people who have no clue about electronics then us customers would not get so upset

I can honestly say I dislike my local apple store. First off, theres no way any of them should be considered "geniuses". Every time ive been there for some type of warranty issue whether it be my imac or ipod, they never seem to know what they're doing, or they'll tell me stuff I already know. Whenever ive asked for help on accessories, the extent of their knowledge is as far as what they can read on the package. And the worse experience I had is when I went in to buy my imac. Now ive worked and managed in retail long enough that I dont like it when a customer has to approach the worker for help, the employee should be aware of the customer without seeming smothering. Anyways I walked into the apple store and was immediately greeted, then that was it. I hung out around the imac sections for about 15-25 minuted before I had enough and asked someone for help. Maybe its cause I dressed in regular street clothes and dont look like the formal business men that were in the apple store for some reason that EMPTY Tuesday afternoon, but no one approached me to try and sell me the imac, even though I already knew I was going to buy one. There werent many people in the store at the time and there were several apple employees hangin around doing nothing.

Anyways enough with the rant. I still absolutely love everything Apple, just wished they'd hire better, more qualified employees, or at the least trained them better so they could represent Apple in a much more positive light.....

Maybe there's not enough margin in Apple products to be able to afford really qualified help. Or maybe marketing magic makes qualified help unnecessary.

My big issue is with being called a septic. This from the pony set. But what can you expect from a country that has a national pastime that can last for five days and nobody really understand what happened. :) And for a real thrill, try pronouncing a Welsh town name.

I've been to the Sydney Apple flagship store several times (once with an appointment with their "Genius Bar"), and their service and response has been nothing but exemplary, even during the lunch hour peak crowd. When I told them I just wanted to browse around and have a play with their devices, they left me alone; and when I had questions, it wasn't hard to find someone to ask.

In Australia we have only a few apple stores unlike USA and in most part the service is excellent. With 30 years background with apple i some times test the stores for fun. In every case I have had the response i expected. Unfortunately Apple stores have killed VAR business which is one reason I sold my business as they directly competed with specialist resellers. In saying that thats they way the industry is going. Its easy for me to say charge $ 150 plus an hour for support that's normal how ever the Apple store cannot do that. My advice is if you find apple store that offers excellent knowledge as well as service then stay with them
There is still a need for specialists whom are on call like me 7/24 so i guess I am grateful even though i now do it part time.

Cheers from Down under col.Bris

I think while we joke about how some of the employees look in Apple stores in the UK, generally the ones i've encountered have been pretty switched on. Of course, we have the dipshits who work in PC World to compare them to.... I'm sure most of them only have a vague knowledge of what they're selling because its in the name... They wouldn't stand a chance in the Apple store.. The lack of fruit would fry their underdeveloped brains.

I hate PC World. And Currys... They're the KFC of the home appliance world; only employing those people too stupid to get a job in Comet or Dixons...

Seadog - feel free to insult the fine English game of cricket once your number one national sport is no longer one only played by small girls in England - Rounders :D

I think the tea towel rules explain cricket best. BTW, did you hear about the abused child who did not want any of his family to get custody of him for fear they would beat him. The judge awarded him to AFC Aldermaston since they could not beat anyone. It was that or the 2010 English WC team.
