Any way to remove the 'No SIM Card' message?

I recently bought a refurbished iPad 3 running IOS 8.1.1.

It had the SIM card removed.

Every boot I get the message: 'No SIM Card'

Is there a way to remove this message?

The only way to stop the message from appearing is to put a SIM card in the holder. It doesn't have to be an active card, it just has to be in the holder.
