My iPad Air (Model MD785X/A) battles to get through a day without half of the time on the charger. I suspect the battery is getting a bit old.

Is it possible to fit a replacement battery?

It is possible to replace the battery on an iPad Air, but keeping in mind this is a ten year old device, you might be better off putting the money towards a newer device.

Do I just take the beast to the Apple Shop?

Dependant on which country you are in, you might need an appointment. The also would probably have to order a an appropriate battery.

due to the age of the original iPad Air, Apple no longer offers any service. Any battery replacement would have to be through an independent repair shop.
