3G vs 4G

What is the difference between 3G and 4G? My iPad is 3G.

Antennas and, in the end, speed. iPads lack 4g hardware, so until they get that 4g hardware, it's 3G speeds.

With a good signal, 3G typically provides about 1000 kbps.. In North America, HSPA+ (which most providers call 4G) is a little over twice as fast at around 2500 kbps.
