Twitter Removes 140-Character Direct Message Restriction

    Great news today from Twitter for everyone who likes using Twitter’s Direct Messages feature to keep in touch with people, as you can now private-Tweet away to your heart’s content without the 140-character limit.

    Here’s how the official Twitter blog explained the reasoning behind the move from the company:

    Twitter says that as far as the public side of Twitter is concerned, the word count will remain the same as it ever was, i.e., 140 characters.

    Don’t panic if you find that you can still only send 140-character direct messages, as Twitter says that it has only started rolling out the change today, and that it will continue to roll out over the next few weeks, so it might take a little time to get to your particular neck of the woods.
