According to a report in the Hindustan Times via iDownload Blog, Qantas, the largest airline in Australia, has just announced that it will be giving passengers iPads to use as in-flight entertainment devices, to enable them to watch over 200 hours worth of movies, and TV programmes, and listen to music as well. The iPads will be connected to the plane’s own Wi-Fi network, and will display Quantas Q Streaming tech. Presently, the iPads are only going to be used between Sydney and Honolulu on the 767s, and it will be for all classes. The Hindustan Times goes on to say that Qantas has said that new interactive games, as well as travel and business apps, digital papers and magazines, will be added to the service soon. As iDownload Blog notes, Qantas was one of the early supporters of Apple’s iOS 6 Passbook app, which enabled passengers to use the app as a digital boarding pass so that they could check in via their iPhones and iPads.
