I get sound on YouTube put not on weather and hgtv apps?

Check you've not accidentally activated the 'Mute' function. That's controlled either by the slide switch near the volume control or the 'soft' switch in the far left of the multi task bar - you can get access to that by double tapping the Home button. One of these buttons controls Mute the other the orientation lock - which is which can be chosen in the 'Settings' menu.
