My Safari is jammed wont work

I did something, screen went to light gray and nothing will move or work .Loaded another browser (Dolphin) works fine.
HELP

Double press the home button, and press and hold the safari button, and click the "-" symbol that pops up.

New here...dont know if I am doing this right..Just Thanks to nicknick923, safari works great now
