Hi, everyone I have a problem with my ipad it is shutting down at randome after my son dropped it. It was in a defender case but it still dint help. The only way I can get it to turn back on when it does this is to kinda twist it by holding each corner then it will show the plug and iTunes logo then I can do a reset and the apple logo will come up and it will go good for a few min then it stops again does anyone know what is going on with it any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi Michael - welcome to the forum! :) If not already done, try the 'Reset' maneuver in the quote below - if this does not help, and in view that the iPad was dropped and likely damaged, you need to visit an Apple Store or an authorized Apple repair service - Dave

When an app (or several) are misbehaving, I usually go through the following steps:

1. Force Close - open the multi-tasking bar (double tap the 'home buttom' or use multi-gesturing and swipe up); press & hold an app until all begin to 'jiggle'; find the offending app(s) and press the 'red circle w/ minus sign' - return to the home screen & try again.

2. Restart - press & hold the 'Sleep/Awake' (a.k.a. power) button until a red slider appears (may take a few seconds) - move the slider to turn off the iPad; then press & hold the same button until the Apple logo appears - wait for a restart.

3. Reset - press & hold the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears - this may take a longer time, so have patience; the iPad will 're-boot' - NOTE that none of these maneuvers will alter your apps, files, or settings.

Hi Michael and welcome to the Forum!

It really does sounds as if something may have been jarred loose from the drop and Giradman's advice is the best at this point. If your iPad is still under warranty, Apple is likely to offer a replacement but with a cost which is normally half of what you paid for your iPad. They've also been known to offer this out of warranty too, so the best advice we can give you is to make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple store. No need for a receipt, they can look up all relevant info in store. It's best if you can back it up first if you can. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
