Seems every search for solid info on air-printers, wireless keyboards, even apps these days directs me to a vendor website.

I need to replace Lexmark multi-function print-scan-copy-fax that works with my non-Apple products, with one that will do all these functions with iPad, iPhone AND [current] Dell & HP laptops. Need color printing and to work well with wireless communication. Not against upgrading significantly, ie spending a bit more money, if worth it . Can anyone point me to best overall manufacturer or a neutral forum thread?

Thanks- can you tell I'm stressing about this? Looking forward to using this site!

Well, I have an Epson "WorkForse 845" all-in-one wireless printer. I purchased it in October 2012 from Amazon for $139.99 (it was on sale ... it's now $245.99, USD). It is a " wireless all-in-one color inkjet printer, copier, scanner, fax, iOS/tablet/smartphone/AirPrint compatible" printer.

It has worked flawlessly for me since I bought it. I use it wirelessly with my Windows 7 PC (HP hardware), my iPhone 5 and my iPad Air (it also worked fine when I had my iPad 3). In addition to being able to send print jobs to the printer, Epson also has an app you can download for free from the AppStore that allows you to use the iPad to scan a document into the printer and have the scan appear on the iPad (!). As you can tell, I think that's pretty cool. :)

The printer works great as a printer and a copier and I can also attest that it works well as a fax machine. I've got it permanently plugged into my phone line and I get no interference from it while using the phone for voice.

So, yeah, I think this is a pretty cool printer. And, relatively inexpensive, IMNSHO.

But, while I was looking on Amazon for the prices, I noticed it has been replaced with a newer product, the "Epson WorkForce WF-3540†which is available at Amazon for $172.76 (on sale from $199.99). I don't know anything about that one, except that the app will also work with it.

So, there' some person's input for ya. Happy researching.

I paid about $70 for an HP 3050A, which serves my purposes well. It has AirPrint, and it also has HPs ePrint service, which enables printing from remote locations. Effectively, your printer gets an email address and you simply send your print jobs to that address.

The printer is not as good as my Canon, but as the Canon lacks AirPrint, I can put up with the lower quality.

Setup was a breeze. Advice I'd give to anyone buying any printer is to always upgrade the firmware to the latest version, immediately. It can save a lot of grief.

Thank you Kevin! Appreciate the extra example of how HP's ePrint works, do you have to pay for that e-ddress, like for eFax?
