Kate Winslet set to star in Jobs biopic.JPG

Variety reports that British national treasure Kate Winslet is currently in negotiations to play the female lead role in Universal’s “Jobs” biopic about Steve Jobs, with Danny Boyle directing.

As far as other casting is concerned, Variety says that Michael Fassbender is in the frame to play Steve Jobs, and Seth Rogen is set to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Jeff Daniels is also rumoured to be interested in playing the role of former Apple president John Scully, but Variety says that he has not been offered the part yet.

The script has been written by Aaron Sorkin, with Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady producing.

Variety says that with such a strong “pedigree” for the picture, the attraction of the role to Winslet is obvious. She has already been nominated for six Oscars, winning once for her role in “The Reader.”

While the lead female role in the film is not named, it is presumably Steve Jobs’ wife, Laurene.
