My little nephew has an ipad 1 that he bought new. I don't think it has ever had an update since he got it (3.2.2). None of us know anything about an ipad and he only knows a little. I got on line and read that some of the updates made the system have lots of problems. His mom is going to take the ipad and he is going to get a new one. But she wants to add the Nook app, which is requiring the system to be updated. I am just afraid to do anything with it until I ask people who have been there and done this themselves. Where and how to do the update??????????? Sorry for our ignorance........... Thanks.

Just as an FYI: updating the iPad 1 with the new iOS 5 has had known issues of apps crashing, etc. Because of the RAM being half of what the iPad 2, there will be some things you may need to do in order to manage it.
