Proud owner of a new iPad Air and new member of the forum. I'm finding a lot of great info here but I do have one question.

I'm dying to jailbreak my iPad. Unfortunately my MacBook Pro is aging a bit and I'm running OSx 10.5.8 with no way to upgrade the OS due to financial reasons, is there a way I can connect my iPad to my MacBook so I may jailbreak my iPad?

Any help is really appreciated.

From reports, there are users that have jailbroken use Evasi0n7 using a Mac that goes all the way back to Mac OSX 10.5.2 or 10.5.3 despite the requirements being 10.6+. Worse comes to worse, the jailbreak won't work (it will probably stop you before the jailbreak process begins), or, if it fails midway you'll have to restore your iPad in DFU or Recovery Mode, so make sure you backup your device prior to jailbreaking as always. I don't have an older Mac/Macbook that I can test to see if it works on 10.5.X, but the risk of anything detrimental happening is infinitesimally minute or non-existing.

Hello & welcome to the forum! :) I cannot comment on jailbreaking (on a stock iPad 2 & also a MBPro w/ Mavericks), but OS 10.6 (i.e. Snow Leopard) is available from the Apple Store HERE for $20 (mailed disc) - not sure which model/year MBPro you own, but the basic machine requirements are given in the link. Good luck! Dave

And if you can get to Snow Leopard, or any version with the Mac App Store; then the most recent of version of OS X is free. It can be installed on some models as old as 2007; though you'd want to double check to make sure.
