iCloud????

My grandson lost his ipad mini and Apple advised that we could log into iCloud and do find my iphone (or ipad). I tried that but it seems iCloud was never set up on his iPad so we cannot log in. Is there any way to use the 'find my' feature without being logged into iCloud?

Hello & welcome to the forum - Well, you may be 'out of luck' - 'Find my iPad' is activated in Settings > iCloud > Find my iPad, so a necessity; plus, as you've stated, signing into the iCloud initiates the service; finally, Wi-Fi will have to be 'On' and the device connected to a wireless network. That's my understanding but maybe others can offer more advice - good luck! Dave

Giradman is correct. You can't activate Find my iPad after the fact. iCloud needs to be set up and the feature activated on the iPad itself.
