How likely am I to get an ipad 2 in the US at the end of the month?!!!

A great forum - looking forwards to learning much from the wealth of experience available here.
I'm a newbie to the forum and discovered it whilst researching the likelihood of being able to walk in to a store in Florida and walk out with the ipad 2 model of my choosing!!!
I'm on holiday in Orlando at the end of May/start of June and had waited to upgrade until then but it suddenly occurred to me today that I may come home empty handed due to the seemingly low stock availability!! I apologise if this question has been posed previously - I couldn't see any threads that related (or at least not recently enough to give an accurate impression of current stock levels).
I realise that folks can't know specific availability but thought that maybe someone would have a better sense of whether my plan is realistic?!
I wonder if people might also be able to tell me if it is possible to order on the US apple website and arrange for pick up in store or if the only way to get my hands on one is by waiting (impatiently!) in line!!!!
Many thanks in advance for any help/advise!

you can order yours online and it will take about 2 weeks to ship then 3-4 days to get to you.

As for in store availability, as time goes on it will be easier to find them but for the near future it is going to be hit or miss if they are in store.

The best you could do is order one online and keep looking in stores. Apple doesnt charge your card until it ships. So you could already have your order being processed online while you look around in stores. Then if you find one in a store it is very easy to cancel your order online. And if you dont find one in store then you still have one by the time you start your holiday.

I'm actually hoping to buy the iPad 2 in the US during my 2 week holiday in Orlando. I was going to buy one in the UK but then thought my holiday might be the ideal opportunity to pick one up at a more competitive price! I think I will take a chance at getting one and if luck goes against me then I'll resort to the higher prices in the UK - either way, I can't wait to get my hands on the IPad 2!!!!!

I would try Best Buy, Target, Walmart ~ I think they have them in Orlando. I was at Best Buy and they had quite a few, just the other day!

Disney World vacation? (I am a Disney freak and a Disney travel specialist.) :D

As far as trying to get an iPad in Orlando: check at Target, WalMart, Best Buy and Toys R Us.

So far it seems that the iPads at Target, Toys R Us, etc. are all Verizon models. Are you looking for AT&T? I think there is an Apple Store not too far from the parks. Good luck!

Not sure yet whether to get a 3G model. My IPad 1 is wifi only and I've not really felt restrained as my iPhone fills in when I don't have a wifi connection. Am I correct in thinking that if I do choose to pick up a 3G model that I should go for an AT&T as this will be more compatible with the sim cards available back in the UK. Also, does anyone know which UK sims will work in a previously AT&T iPad and if I will have any problems transferring between the carriers. Don't fancy getting back to UK only to find out that I can't actually get any coverage using a UK sim in a US model!!
Thanks

I have to agree. I would call ahead to any Apple stores if you plan on trying to get one from there. I've seen locally here in NY Target, Walmart, and Best Buy having a pretty consistent stock of both 3G and WiFi models.
