Hi, just joined. I have been able to enable this facility through google.com.au/preferences and I seem not to be able to retain the saved settings through my google login. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be activated to hold the settings? I am using ios6 on the iPad.

Hoping you can help.

Check Settings > Safari, and make sure you have Private Browsing turned off and that you Accept Cookies from visited sites.

Hi again,

Sorry to bother you but the jolly thing just doesn't want to stay save even if I remain logged in. As near as I can tell none of the settings you described earlier have altered. Sometimes it stays set for a couple of days and sometimes it seems not to save even though it says it has saved the settings. Any other thoughts?

I can't think of anything else to try with Safari. You could try the actual GMail app, available in the App Store. It does the drawing thing too, and might be more stable.
