AppleInsider reports that Tinhte.vn, the Vietnamese site that just published the first Retina iPad unboxing video, has also posted the results of benchmark tests that it carried out on the new iPad. According to the report, the site ran a Geekbench test on the new iPad, which revealed that the A5X processor features an ARMv7 processor clocked at 1GHz, which is exactly what the iPad 2’S A5 chip had. However, unlike the iPad 2, the new iPad’s processor has a quad-core graphics processor which, Apple tells us, out-performs the A5 chip four times over. The benchmark test also confirmed that the new iPad has 988 megabytes of RAM, which confirms previous rumours that the A5X’s chip had been doubled to 1GB of RAM from 500MB. AppleInsider writes that the new iPad was given a Geekbench score of 756. To break down that overall result further, it performed best in the Floating Point test, with a score of 915, with the Memory test coming in second place with 815. The tests were carried out using the newest available Geekbench for iOS release, version 2.2.7.[/FONT]

Good to have confirmation.

I would've been more interested in upgrading for RAM, but the iOS 5.1 upgrade seems to have fixed my RAM-related crashes on iPad 1 and 2.
