Face time says connecting but won't connect

I am trying to use face time. It says connecting on my end and theirs but never connects. Doesn't matter if I am the
caller or receiver.

Hi Susie,

Welcome the the forum.

Are you certain that the party you are trying to connect with has an iPad 2 or newer? For me, iMessage works far better than FaceTime for talking to other folk.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, these are 3 ipads I have had face time conversations with regularly I have cleared the bottom buttons, the safari searches and rebooted it using the him and power buttons. Any other ideas?

I had a problem with FaceTime and then iMessages with an iPad 3 which had had no problems since new. I finally restored it back to factory settings and it worked again. I hope you find out how to fix this but all the usual routes didn't work for me. Trawl the Apple website. They usually have the answer except in my case.
