Have had my iPad 2 for six months, and still can't figure out how to copy and paste.

Coils someone please take the time to explain the steps to an old idiot?

Thanks.

First of all, what is it that you would like to "copy"? And are you attempting to copy from a website?

Well, let me take a shot at it. And, BTW, there are no "idiots" when it comes to learning the iPad ... we've all been at the very beginning, trying to learn how to use this marvelous "toy"...! :)

You didn't say in which program you want to copy/paste, so let me use the Notes app as an example. I've got pictures! :D

Here I am in Notes, ready to go and I've begun the pasting process:

The iPad highlights what I want to copy:

I put my cursor where I want the text to go and (after holding my finger on the screen to get the popup) press paste:

And it's pasting time:

Note that this works in many apps (especially the word processing apps). You can also go across apps, in that you can copy something in one app and then paste it into another.

Hope this helps. Let us know if I went way off base - or if you need more examples (any chance to use Skitch is fine with me! :D).

In case you're trying to paste from Safari:

Some websites are built to resist cutting and pasting. In those instances, what's worked for me: I save a story to my reading list and cut and paste from there.

Good catch, Kay! I knew I forgot part of it...

P.S. And Gabe, that's WWFriends, not WWWrestling. Though, come to think of it, maybe it'd be a good way to relieve some stress! :D

Marilyn.......

Thanks for your time.

Regret that I was baffled on step1 - "iPad highlights what I want to copy". How? What's the highlighting procedure?

Best, nick

You need to read Marilyn's comments in the images as well as the notes alongside each image, it's all explained there, but do let us know if you are still struggling with it.
