Can you trace were a stolen IPad has been?

My daughter has muscular atrophy and has helpers 24 hours a day. One of these helpers stole her new IPad a couple of weeks ago. We found it hidden in her room 4 days later but the person who had had it had reset it. I expect the person who did it, got cold feet.
Is there any way to find out where the IPad has been for those 4 days? One of 4 helpers is a thief and we would like to know who :-(
