Bluetooth (BT) on the iPad is limited in the devices that can be paired; for myself, I have a set of BT headphones, an Apple keyboard, and a Boston Acoustics soundbar attached to my HDTV - all these pair fine w/ my iPod or iPad. There are not many other options AFAIK - if you are trying to 'pair' w/ your phone to transfer photos, files, etc., then you're out of luck. Please check this APPLE Support Article for some BT basics - good luck!
