After updating from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS 5, suddenly the Youtube thumbnails in the Facebook news feed are too large (covering all of the text in the same and following status updates).* Under iOS 4, the Youtube thumbnails were scaled correctly.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your issue, did you do a reset after the upgrade? Try these steps:-
Do the four finger swipe up to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press one of these apps until they start to jiggle and red minus signs will appear above them all. Press all the minus signs, this will close them, not delete them. It's a good idea to do this regularly just to keep them all running smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now. if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When your iPad begins to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

Mine does it too, in Safari and the Facebook app. Resetting the iPad does nothing to fix it. Facebook has to be aware of this.

This problem makes my newsfeed unreadable! I hope someone at Apple is working on fixing it.

Same here. 5.0.1 9A405. It's fairly (first world problem) obnoxious.

So, is this an iOS 5 problem or a Facebook or YouTube problem? Is it going to be something where the three groups are going to point fingers? Reported on Apple support as well.

I think if we wanted to get this fixed, we'll need to get more people reporting it. I can't post a link yet (not enough posts) but a search for "youtube thumbnails safari ipad" will lead you there.

Good ?.
YouTube as an app works fine.
Facebook as an app works fine.
Facebook ON safari WITH YouTube thumbnails is the issue in OS 5.1 on my ipad2. They are too large & block most of the post on the page in NewsFeed. Don't know if that helps, but maybe it narrows it down?

Yep, me too. Here's my two pennith worth. Am viewing Facebook on ipad through Safari and the Youtube video thumbnails are too big for the posting. I can't see the text underneath, or the Like, Comment links. It's very frustrating not to be able to Like or
Comment on a video that has been posted.

I am having the same issue. Embedded videos displayed in Facebook news feed are not being arranged properly and tend to cover up all video info as well as comment, and like buttons. This is the case in both safari and Icab for me. It makes me think that it's a Facebook issue with ios 5.*. It wouldn't be so bad if the Facebook app was as good as the mobile site, but there are many features not included in the app that make me continue to access Facebook through my browser. I think I've run into an annoying problem on par with this one everyday since I got my iPad 2. Rather frustrating. Apple is supposed to be a good company but this product falls far short of being easy to use right out of the box.

Same issue with my ipad2. Annoying and frustrating just doesn't cover it. Also reporting to Apple support.

As you can see, I have no negative issues with iPad with 5.0.1 only if I use a different web browser (for example, Ultimate Browser) that is capable of running in a Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer emulator mode. No safari no suffer.
