I loved my Palm Pilots. I owned serveral.

My first iOS device was an iPod Touch. I didn't get it because it was a music player. I got it because it was the most powerful PDA on the market. It made the Palm Pilots look like cheap toys. All I wanted from the iPod Touch was cellular access (because we didn't have decent AT&T coverage where I lived the iPhone was a non-starter).

Then the iPad came out and the iPod Touch was soon lost in a pile of old electronics.

The biggest difference between the iPad and Android tablets is the operating system since the iPad runs on iOS while Android tablets run on Google's Android; both starting on smartphones and are now being used in tablets.

Hi Nearbuds - welcome to the forum! :) But most of us know that there are different operating systems on the iPad vs. Android devices - really not a Homer Simpson experience here - ;)

What would be more useful as a contribution is: 1) What are the features of iOS vs. Android that might favor using one OS over the other; and 2) What are the hardware differences between devices using these operating systems that make one superior to the other? Would be much more helpful w/ some specific useful comments, just saying - Dave

The quality of construction and the availability and reliability of features can be more important than which operating system is on a particular tablet model. There's also the integration of the operating system with the operating system on your other devices and how well it works. It can be a better experience if your phone and tablet are running the same operating system.
