What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

Thanks. No rain forecast till noonish, and by then we should be headed to the Meteor Crater:

Meteor Crater

No mule rides this time.

We were at Zion yesterday. Gorgeous.

zion national park - Google Search

We've done the loop before, including Bryce and Arches, but they still take your breath away every time.

Would love to see the Meteor Crater.

We drove from Vegas to the Canyon ....it certainly does take your breath away and photos just don't do it justice.

Also drove from LA along the west coat to Yosemite and then onto San Fran.....just amazing vistas and so many beautiful areas!

I'm looking forward to your travelogue and photos about the GC, Kay. :)

I'm lazy and I carry my phone only, and no matter what I take I can google better images, taken by people who've bothered to lug multiple lenses, a tripod, etc. I also hate having my photo taken. I do like to take goofy shots of my husband making like a squirrel or doing other nutty things. We took one by a sign discouraging people from feeding wildlife at Zion, for instance, and he posed like a squirrel, with his front teeth out, ready to sink into a bag of pretzels, lol.

I've yet to get to Yosemite. Plans have fallen through repeatedly, but I mean to see it sooner than later.

I've been to the Meteor Crater and done the rim walk, but DH will be going for the first time.

The thing I love about all these freaky natural sights, besides the obviously stunning beauty: It's a nice refresher of how insignificant we are -- individuals, as well as humanity. It puts everything into perspective!

We enjoyed our trip to the GC rim.

We took an air tour. I'd love to drive there next time :)

We loved Yosemite and wished we had had more time there......it is just so scenic and the trees are magnificent!

Oh yes....that is so true, we are but nothing! ;)

Hubby took an air tour with our 2 eldest......the pilot counted down to the rim and the earth just fell away! He was amazed by it all.

I don't like helicopters much and as our youngest didn't want to go, I chose to stay behind with her.

I would recommend the drive....you take in the Hoover dam which is really something to see but the landscape is just huge and absolutely stunning.

I would love to return! ;)

I really like going to all those western parks. I do take a simple digital camera with a good zoom and have taken some pictures I'm proud of. I agree that they don't capture the vastness of the landscape views, but nothing does. My sunset photos do remind me of what I saw at the Grand Canyon. My working cowboys, on horses, was taken on a long off-road trip. The best pictures are of flowers and wildlife.

I would love to take some time to just explore the whole region......we all took many photos trying to capture it all, great photos but I agree nothing can capture the vastness!

A thrill for me was to see tumble weeds.....I'd only seen them in movies and was just fascinated by them. ;)
