What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

Enjoying a free day. Will be going to the cinema with my son in about 12 hours. :-)

Reading posts, posting here.

Waking up because of an owl hooting near my window.

That's so interesting. I've never heard an owl hoot at night, (except in movies), and would love to. Well maybe not every night if it keeps me awake:)

It's 6:38 am here, and the sun is shining. Owl and other birds start hooting and chirping as soon as it's getting light.

Have you got earplugs? Do owls usually perch near your window?

I like the sound of owls in the distance, but don't think I'd appreciate being woken up by one. I especially hate crows.

No, I don't use earplugs. The one I'm hearing must be in one of the trees in front of my house, I guess. It's a soft hooting, I like that sound.

That would be a nice alarm sound -- the hooting of an owl!

I love earplugs. I don't usually wear them, but on a plane with a crying baby, or other such noisy settings, they work swell. I went on a trip with a friend who snores like a train. She kept apologizing, because she'd apparently tormented many travel companions before with her snoring. I never heard her once my ear plugs were in, lol.

Good morning Johanna! It's Thursday 2.59pm here, which is your "yesterday":)
EDIT: Or is that tomorrow? Got to think about this :)

Absolutely agree re earplugs. I started using them at night when we had a neighbour with a noisy dog barking day and night. Blissfully they sold up and moved away recently. Now I'm finding it hard to break the habit, trying not to listen to every little noise at night.

That's annoying, having an irresponsible dog-owning neighbor. Good thing they moved.

Well, if the earplugs work, why not stick with them?

I read this interesting article about light sleepers vs. those who aren't:

Brain-Wave Patterns, or Spindles, Identify Light Sleepers - TIME

I'm one of those sleep-like-the-dead types, lol.
