I'm saving my logs for tonight when the temperature drops again!

I called British Gas and they said they couldn't get here until tomorrow, they then said (their downfall) that they would normally get to me on the same day but it's a bank holiday.......really? Because when it broke down three weeks ago it took you two and a half days to get here and it was below freezing all the time........this was then followed by a protracted and embarrassed silence!

Yeesh. Can you boil water for hot water bottles? Can you take hot showers? Throw clothes in the dryer to warm them up before throwing them on? Use a blow dryer to give yourself a blast now and then? Get hold of a portable heater?

I'm a cold wimp, but I hear you Brits are hardier in general.

I might head off to my better half's later, but I need to be here early in case BG outdo themselves and turn up at the front end of the time slot.

I've read that you can microwave uncooked rice to use as a warm compress, but have not tried.
