Linda realized that she would be 50 next year at about 8 yesterday morning. The thought seemed to shock her, but as I am 52, I told her it's not so bad.

It's just another number. In German we say : Man ist so alt, wie man sich fühlt. (You are as old as you feel. - Hope I got it right).
