Found an injured bird in my back yard an hour ago. Think it was hurt during last nights storms.

Appears to have a damaged wing and a broken leg. Looks like a Snipe or a Woodcock.

The bird sanctuary is closed til the morning. Keeping it warm in the house til then.

A local landslide in nearby county has claimed another death. A 22 year old with her boyfriend was engulfed by a cliff near Bridport. Terribly sad.

Sadly the bird we rescued didn't survive the night. At least it wasn't alone and frightened or worse, easy prey for predators which are numerous in the suburb we live in.

Amen to that-- you have a good heart. I've had injured birds go either way, recover and surprise me by flying around my house or not making it.

Last night was hot and quite sultry. It eased at about 2.00 am, after I had opened some more windows. It's so tempting to sleep downstairs in the cooler rooms.
