URGENT! iPad frozen

HI all.

My iPad has frozen on the Apple screen after attempting to boot it up. I have recently downloaded iOS8 and it slowed right down so I powered off the device and now it will not boot back up.

I have tried holding the power and home buttons together. The screen goes blank but then the Apple logo comes up again, still frozen. I have tried plugging it into laptop to access iTunes but nothing happens. The power button on its own doesn't do anything.

Can someone help as I have some work on the iPad that I need to access urgently?
