Updating iPad problem

I can still download the software but It doesn't fully load at the backing up part.

Also, do you have to transfer apps on my iPad to the computer or can you avoid that?

When you say you can 'fully download the software', what software are you referring to?

Actually I it's good now so you don't have to help I found out you have to sync it before updating
