Legendary Hip-Hop music, culture, politics and sport magazine, The Source, has relaunched its website (www.thesource.com) with new digital properties and a fully fledged makeover. As a result, the new site has been specially chosen by Apple as one of its “Ready for iPad†websites, alongside the likes of CNN, Reuters, New York Times, Time, Spin, Life and Ellen. Essentially, these are websites that Apple deems to take advantage of “the latest web standards – including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript… to deliver content that looks and functions beautifully on iPad.†Just a wild guess, but the sites on the list probably don’t have a whole lot of Flash on ‘em either. :)

The Source Digital Archive is another impressive feature of the new site, being the only digital library of its kind, chronicling over 20 years of Hip-Hop music, news, events and related content, including many rare and hard-to-find articles. Users can view magazine covers to see a time line of major Hip-Hop stars’ rise to fame, including Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G., Lil Kim, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill, Common, Eminem and many more.

The new site also features The Source Digital Radio, a free Hip-Hop station programmed by tastemakers at The Source and powered by Slacker Personal Radio.
