Hello and welcome to the forum! :)

To help us understand your comments better, you might want to give a fuller explanation of your experience(s)? I'm assuming that your iPad was lost or stolen?

But 'just for starters' as to security, a Passcode (4-digit number or a more complicated one) easily protects others from breaking into and using your iPad; and in settings, the option to 'Erase Data' after 10 failed passcode attempts can be selected - good luck w/ your situation.

There are many layers of security to protect your iDevice when it's been lost or stolen.

In addition to the lock code mentioned by the previous poster there is the "Find My iPad/iPhone" app.

http://www.apple.com/ca/icloud/features/find-my-iphone.html

Besides locating your missing device, the app has features that can disable the device remotely.

There is also a method to remotely wipe the data on you device.

Study up - good luck and welcome to iPF.
