I'm not saying there hasn't been profiteering going on but in fairness most of the torches being sold on are to benefit the torch bearers charities further, not everything is as you first read it.

Here is my boy (blue England top) and his best mate holding the torch used by one of the runners a few days ago as the flame went through Reading in Berkshire.

The relay will pass the end of my road around 9.00 am on Monday. I must get up early!

I've already bought the golf shirt. :)

Richard, you are an excellent photographer so I am expecting you to get some really GREAT photos and then post them on the forum so that folks like me, can see a first hand view of the torch relay. I am thankful that you are willing to share your views as it is almost like being there!

So be sure to set up your iPad's alarm clock, get up early, find the perfect spot to take photos. I'd send you an electronic cup of coffee if it would do you any good! <S>

Thx.
Will do. A gingerbread latte would be nice ;)

I was in London today. The mood of the city is fabulous. Crowds of different nationalities there, all very happy.

I took some photos with a tourist and Olympic theme. I was showing my great niece around.

I will post the Olympic ones here tomorrow.

What a lead up to the Olympics!

Bradley Wiggins is poised to become the first Briton to win the Tour de France after victory in Saturday's time trial.

I do hope he will be at the opening ceremony on Friday.

These photos should give you a flavour of how London is being transformed in the lead up to the Olympics. The torch is now on the final week of its journey, being carried through the London Boroughs.

Meanwhile, the tourist industry is working overtime, while life carries on and ceremonies are performed as normal.

Changing the guard at Buckingham Palace.

Scenes by St James's Park. A fleet of Olympic BMWs passed by. I was too slow with the camera :(. Then views at Horse Guards Parade from the Whitehall side.

One of the horses wasn't at all happy, and decided to liven things up while on duty. He wasn't having much of it either as he returned to the stables!

Trafalgar Square. An international choir was due to take to the stage.

Yes, I was very lucky to be given this. I love it, they are given to businesses here who have a high turnover in Coca Cola and so there are not too many of them given out.

You collect pins! I have lots of coke and charity pins and yes a date does make it even better!

Coca Cola produced something similar for the Vancouver 2010 OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY. The bottles are aluminum with screw caps.

Ooh, that's very nice. Wouldn't mind that in my collection.

The one I showed is also aluminum.....the first one I've gotten that has a pop off lid. I wouldn't have thought it viable as most of them are screw top.

Thanks for showing me yours!

A few days ago I posted that one of the young ladies in my running club ran in the relay at Hythe, Kent. She wad the youngest runner that day, and completed double the expected distance.

As it happens, I also know the oldest person who completed another leg of the relay in Hythe. Brenda didn't take the flame from Olivia, but her leg of the relay was about 3 away from Olivia's. Brenda talked about the experience in Church yesterday morning. The Olympic spirit is a wonderful thing, which gives hope and unity to those who experience the events etc.

Apparently, when completed, the torch relay will have passed close to over 90% of the population in the UK. The turn out to witness it's passing by is very high too.
