I'm going on my third iOS 5 attempt. Other two times I got an error saying connection timed out. If it happens this time, I give up for now.

Oh Karma this is nerve racking. It's backing up my iPad now. I had an error after half an hour on the first attempt. This is the second

I was making good progress. I had to stop after 440MB as had to leave for the airport or would have been a very expensive iOS upgrade and an upset wife.

FWIW after the Lion update, the iTunes update and iOS 5 update (all went fine) I tried to move my Mobile Me account/data to iCloud and it's giving me a "try again later" message so I have to believe all of Apple's servers are swamped right now. Best to relax and, well, try again later.

The dogs have been staring at me all morning...I suppose I should take them for a walk.

Finally managed to get it done, what a load of palava, i had to use the cable from my router to pc to download the ios, otherwise its bad connection on the wifi. Then from the laptop to ipad, i had to restore the software and again more problems like messages like 'cannot verify with apple' or itunes not connected, i hate apple today after the waste of time i had. As early as 45 minute ago i felt like i need help from apple store or something.

iOS 5 worked on my iPad on the third attempt. Working on my mom's iPhone 4 now. Three hours remaining though.

I love iMessage since I don't have an iPhone (yet), and I LOVE the notification bar and the new notifications on the home screen. Amazing.

Cooking with iOS 5 now!!

IOS5: took a long time to download, then when I tried to install, my iPad wouldn't just upgrade the IOS it had to be restored - so it said - then it said it was unable to restore. Finally on the third try it restored, took a long time, had to make some new folders. While doing this I called Apple Care, the person I talked to said that I was the first person he'd talked to that actually was able to install, so much traffic that people are having many problems. I would imagine that there will be tweaks to the system. He advised waiting a few days enforce upgrading my wife's iPhone.

Oh boy, it gave me the "there was an error with backing up your iphone (-50)". I hope that didn't mean it wiped out her apps. My mom might be po'ed about that. Otherwise it seems to be finishing okay.

I'm not sure I like the split keyboard. But I might end up loving it. It's weird at first to try to use it though!

There are no gestures on the iPad 1 though. I wonder why?
