Hi

Very new to Apple stuff but treated myself to an iPad 2 which after a bit of tweaking now talks to my laptop and exchanges files from Documents to go (which I have been using on my Palm Tungsten) and evernote so I am really looking forward to using it on a regular basis.

I am 64 yrs old and am married (42 years) with two lads who have now left home. We have three dogs and enjoy walks with those and a half an allotment which is good for the veg and keeping a little fitter.

Many thanks for the welcome and will be back to find cures for any ails that I run into with my Apple......

Hi there Tony and welcome.

Three dogs eh, I'm thinking.......Lurchers?

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Yes we have a Lurcher whose ten, a scruffy Terrier cross whose seven and we have been given a Labrador who is just eighteen months old and has shook the cobwebs off in this family!!
Will check out all the links you sent soonest.
One quick question, if I have a technical question, such as Can I use my iPad charger with my iPod Touch. What forum would I post that on.

Many thanks for your warm welcome

Sounds like you have some very nice dogs, why not post a photo of them in our pet thread
http://www.ipadforums.net/off-topic/18348-post-your-pet.html

If its an issue you need help on we have a Help Forum and this question would fit nicely there. Yes you can use an iPad charger for iPod and an iPhone too and all will be fine. If you were to use an iPod charger to charge an iPad, this would also work but be quite slow to charge.
