You can't send text messages to a non-iPhone from an iPad. iMessages are the only type of text messaging that you can do with an iPad. iMessages can only be sent between iDevices. There may be a solution for jailbroken devices.

Hi, welcome to iPF!

Try Google Hangouts. You need a Gmail account to use it. When you're signed in, you can send text messages or make video calls. Of course the Android phone you want to send messages to should have installed this app as well.

Another vote for Google Hangouts (which used to be Google Talk) - very versatile and can even be used on PCs/laptops...

Thanks for the info, I will definitely try this! I think it's such a shame that I am not able to text or play games on my IPad with anyone that has an Android! But, I still love my IPad 4! Got this as a birthday gift from my better half! IPad been wanting one for sooooo long!!

I just got the app for jewels online, but I have no sound on it ! HELP! Also need any tips on how u play this game. My favorite is bejeweled. By the way, I got the app AeJewels on my iPhone but can't find it on my IPad!
