Strange "X" Icon

I consider myself fairly iPad savvy, but recently found an icon on a page that does not react to being touched and cannot be deleted. Does ANYONE know what this thing is and how I can get rid of it?

Huh. Not a clue. Have you tried to either restart or reset the iPad to see if that icon disappears?

What do ya know? A restart did the trick. I Should have at least tried that!!!!

I've seen that symbol before but not on an iPad it was somewhere else. Wish I remembered what it was though.
