Storage @ 50% charge

Per Apple, iPads should be stored at 50% charge and powered off.

Can such iPad be (1)stored that way indefinitely, or (2) best to periodically fire it up and use it, returning to storage at 50% charge?

If (2), what’s that interval?

You’d have to charge it to 50 % every six months.

My ipad2 has been in storage for several months now. I pulled it out today and powered it up ( took the pair photo on the boards here). It is now quietly recharging. I will go to full charge, as it was at 60% when I pulled it out of the drawer it hibernates in.....
