I can no longer load my photos into my IPad via the adapter which is fine from my SD card which is also fine what do I do?

Are you trying to import photos you have taken with a camera?
The Photos app is picky, and only accepts photos, if they are placed in the DCIM folder and have a correct name IMG_1234.jpg. If the images are named differently, or placed in a different folder, they will usually be ignored by the Photos app.
