when I drag from top of the screen down on home page, Spotlight does not come up. Instead, a calendar status for present day and next day appears. I can't find Spotlight anywhere. ????? This is on a new refurb end IPad. Only had it a few weeks.

Don't drag down from the very top. What you're getting is Notification Center.
Start sliding a little bit below the top of the screen, then you'll get Spotlight Search. You can also slide from the middle of the screen, or a bit above the dock, anywhere one the screen.

Yep....I did not read the tip completely.......operator error again! Now it works. Thank you very much.
